Multi-disciplinary artist that has been working in Lyon (France) Today, he is recognized for his exhibitions for contemporary art museums and galleries, his painted murals and performances commissioned by cultural institutions and private companies.
An artist springing out of the graffiti movement, beganning by tagging 1994 and developed a complex style, writing his pseudo on walls in one single stroke. Through the years, he has been exploring various script styles and their calligraphy, and took a particular interest in Arabic letterforms for their finishing and lengthening.
The dynamism of his personal style his characterized by its hybrid approach, fusing traditional and modern calligraphy with both oriental and western influences.
I combines in his work calligraphy, 3D graffiti, technological and architectural elements which aims to convey the concept of “mutation”, calling upon the viewer to immerse himself in a parallel consciousness and relationship to the world. He has been particularly inspired by surrealism in the sense that one thing can compose another and futurist concepts.
His work deals with the notion of transformation of men and nature by the continuous scientific and technologic progress in a consumerist society lead by mass media and advertising. These elements combine to allow for a progressive reading of the image, dependent upon the viewer’s position in relation with the photography. A letter can comprise characters within buildings within which characters are also illustrated, who can themselves compose a faces.
From the multiplicity of the traditional mediums (paper, canvas, installation, murals) he uses, to the omnipresent representation of movement in his work, one can feel his desire to exceed the physical limits imposed by these mediums to reach another perspective of creation.
Artiste pluridisciplinaire issu du mouvement graffiti, débute par le tag en 1994 et développe un style complexe exécutant d’un trait son pseudo. Il s’intéresse aux différentes formes d’écritures et plus particulièrement captivé par la calligraphie arabe pour ses finitions et l’allongement de ses lettres. Son style calligraphique se caractérise par son dynamisme et approche hybride, fusionnant calligraphie traditionnelle et moderne, ainsi que des influences orientales et occidentales.
Après avoir réaliser une formation calligraphique en 2001 avec le célébre calligraphe irakien Hassan Massoudy, il est séduit tout particulièrement par la calligraphie du tunisien Nja Mahdaoui pour ses compositions calligraphiques abstraites et sa recherche conceptuelle.
Je combine ainsi dans son travail calligraphie, graffiti en 3D, ainsi que des éléments technologiques et architecturaux qui aspirent à l’idée de “mutation”, sollicitant le spectateur à s’immerger dans une vision parallèle de sa conscience et son rapport au monde.Il s’inspire des concepts surréalistes dans le sens où une chose en compose une autre, et également futuriste en traitant les idées de la transformation de la nature et de l’homme dans un environnement scientifique et technologique, influencée par la consommation démesurée et la manipulation médiatique. Ces éléments s’organisent pour donner une dimension évolutive à la lecture de l’image, selon le point de vue du spectateur.
Une lettre peut être composée d’immeubles où évoluent des personnages qui eux-même peuvent composer un visage.De la multiplicité de ses supports traditionnels (papier, toile, installation, fresque murale) jusqu’à la représentation omniprésente du mouvement dans son travail, on ressent son envie de dépasser les limites physiques imposées par ces supports pour accéder à un autre espace de création.
